Diaspora BD

Terms of service

Last updated 5 November 2026
Draft for review. This text describes how Diaspora BD works today and must be reviewed by a lawyer before public launch. Items in [brackets] are still to be decided.
Diaspora BD is a professional network for people living and working outside their home country, and for students who want to follow them. These terms apply to everyone who uses it. By joining a community you accept them, and we ask you to accept them again when they change.

Who can join

  • You must be 18 or older.
  • You join with a Google account. One person, one account: no fake, shared, or duplicate profiles.
  • You use your real identity. General members may show a display name; mentors who are paid in future must use their legal name.

Community rules

  1. Use your real identity. No impersonation and no profiles for someone else.
  2. Don't scrape or collect member data. You may not copy, harvest, or pass on other members' details, by hand or with tools, scripts, or bots. Explore and profiles are limited per member so that bulk collection is not possible, and trying to get around those limits breaks these terms.
  3. No bulk export of other members. Diaspora BD never offers one, and you may not build one.
  4. Be respectful. No harassment, hate, threats, or spam, including unwanted or repeated mentorship requests.
  5. Keep it safe for diaspora members. Never use what you see here to identify, locate, or report members to any authority or group.

Mentorship

  • Mentorship requests are free. Mentors choose whom they help and can decline any request.
  • Mentors never promise visas, admissions, scholarships, or jobs, and never ask for payment outside Diaspora BD.
  • Advice from mentors is their own opinion, not professional legal, immigration, or financial advice.
  • When a mentor accepts a request, both sides see each other's sign-in email so they can continue the conversation.

Your content

  • You own what you add: your profile, CV, and messages. You let Diaspora BD store it and show it to other members as your privacy settings allow, only to run the service.
  • If you upload a CV, it is read by an AI model to pre-fill your profile. You review every value before it is saved. See the privacy policy.
  • Only add content you have the right to share, and keep it accurate.

Reports, suspension, and leaving

  • Moderators review reports of members who break these terms and may remove content or suspend accounts. [A report button on profiles and requests is planned; until then, report to the contact below.]
  • You can export your data or delete your account at any time from the Privacy page. A deleted account is hidden right away and can be restored by signing in within 90 days; after that it is deleted permanently.

Our responsibilities and limits

  • We work to keep Diaspora BD available and your data secure, but the service is provided as it is, without guarantees of availability or of what other members say or do.
  • [Limitation of liability, governing law, and the operating entity to be completed with legal advice.]

Changes

When these terms change in a way that matters, we update the version and ask every member to accept the new version before continuing.
